Custom Domains & SSL

• The domain is yours. If you ever leave Looops, you can take it with you.
• Renewal happens automatically once a year, at the same price you paid. Cancel anytime and the domain simply runs until the end of the year you paid for.
• Prices vary by ending: .com, .net, .org and many others are available, each showing its real yearly price before you buy.

Two choices, both set up for you:

• Forward to an inbox you already have. Free. Anything sent to an address at your domain arrives in your existing inbox, for example your Gmail. You reply from that inbox. Good enough for most small businesses, and you can turn it off any time.
• Connect a mailbox you can also send from. You sign up and pay the provider, we add the settings on your domain: Google Workspace from about $7 a month per person, Microsoft 365 from about $6, or Zoho Mail which is free for a small team.

A domain can only point at one of these at a time, so choosing one replaces the other. Looops does not run mailboxes itself: the providers above do that, and forwarding delivers into an inbox you already own.

On the same screen you can:

• Paste verification codes that tools like Google Search Console ask for.
• Add any other record a service's setup guide tells you to add.

The records that make your website itself work are locked, so following someone else's setup guide can never take your site down.

The Looops settings screen gives you the two records with a copy button. Where you paste them depends on where you bought the domain:

• GoDaddy
• Namecheap
• Cloudflare (one click, no records to add by hand)
• IONOS (one click, no records to add by hand)

Any other provider works the same way. Log in where you bought the domain, find the DNS screen (often called DNS management, DNS records, or Zone editor), and add the two records exactly as the Looops screen shows them:

1. A CNAME record. Name www, value: the target Looops gives you.
2. An A record. Name @, which some providers show as an empty name meaning the bare domain, value: the address Looops gives you.

If records for www or @ already exist, replace their values rather than adding a second one. Leave the TTL on whatever the provider suggests. Do not change your nameservers.

Your site is served on www.yourbusiness.com. So that visitors who type yourbusiness.com without the www land on it too, the settings screen gives you one more record to add next to the first: an A record for the bare domain pointing at the Looops redirect address. It sends them to the www address, over HTTPS, with the page they asked for. Two records, added in the same screen at your provider; the settings show where for the common ones. Domains bought inside Looops need none of this.

Once your domain is connected:

• The security certificate is set up automatically
• HTTPS is on by default, and plain HTTP visits are redirected to it
• The certificate renews itself; there is nothing to maintain

DNS usually finishes within an hour. If it's been longer:

1. Double-check the record matches exactly what Website settings shows
2. Make sure there are no conflicting records with the same name
3. Try Verify again after a few more minutes
