Email at your domain with Microsoft 365
Get an address like hello@yourbusiness.com using Microsoft 365 and Outlook. You sign up with Microsoft, Looops adds the settings on your domain.
If you bought your domain inside Looops, you can have a proper email address at it, like hello@yourbusiness.com, and read it in Outlook. Microsoft charges for the mailbox. Looops puts the settings on your domain for you, so you never touch DNS records.
This page is for domains bought inside Looops. If you connected a domain you own elsewhere, the settings live at your own provider and you add them there.
What it costs
Microsoft 365 Business plans with email start at roughly $6 a month per person. You pay Microsoft, not us. If you want something cheaper, Zoho Mail has a free option for a small team.
Step 1: sign up with Microsoft
Start a Microsoft 365 Business subscription
Go to microsoft.com/microsoft-365/business and pick a plan that includes email. Basic is enough if you only need mail.
Say you already own a domain
During sign up, choose to use a domain you already own and type yours exactly as you bought it, without www.
Choose to add the settings yourself
Microsoft offers to change your domain settings for you. Decline that and pick the option to add the records manually, otherwise it will ask for a login we do not have.
Step 2: collect two things from Microsoft
In the Microsoft 365 admin centre, open Settings, then Domains, then your domain. Microsoft lists the records it wants. You need two values from that list:
- The mail address, shown next to the MX record. It looks like
yourbusiness-com.mail.protection.outlook.com. - The verification code, a TXT value that starts with
MS=.
Step 3: let Looops add the settings
Open your domain settings in Looops
Click your project name (top left), choose Website settings, then Domain. Find your domain and click Email & records, then Connect a mailbox and pick Microsoft 365.
Paste both values and click Add the settings
Looops adds the mail settings, the sending setting and the verification code for you.
Go back to Microsoft and continue setup
Microsoft checks the records, usually within a few minutes. Once it is happy, your new address works in Outlook.
Microsoft may also list records for Teams, Skype or device management. Those are not needed for email. If you want them, send them to us and we will add them.
If your site sends form messages
Your website can send you a message every time someone fills in a form. Once your new address works, you can switch those messages over: Website settings, then Email and Forms. Until the address works, keep an address you can already read, otherwise those messages have nowhere to go.
